Research content

Cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial or cerebral infarction are blood vessel disorders triggered by the mechanical stimulation of blood flow and the subsequent degeneration of vascular tissue. The aim of this research is to develop an integrated simulation system through image-based modeling and multi-scale simulation. In particular, while focusing arteriosclerosis and cerebral aneurysm and taking account of the blood vessel hierarchical structure, which has various spatial scales, our aim is to model both the dynamic influences on the blood vessel wall and the physiological influences such as changes in cell function. In addition, with a view to the elucidation of the disorder mechanism and to the introduction of clinical applications, our aim is to develop a simulation system for diagnosis and treatment of individual cases based on medical imaging and measurement data.
